Children's Illustration Workshop

I'm thrilled to announce that I’ll be running a character design workshop at this years Lincoln Book Festival for children aged 6 and over! In line with this years theme of heroes and villains, I’ll be showing you how to create heroes and villains of your very own and best of all it’s absolutely FREE! So if you fancy spending a Saturday afternoon creating crazy characters as well as taking in all the other amazing things the festival will have on offer, head to the Lincoln Book Festival website to book your place.

“This is what we do” will be what it sounds like - an exhibition of new and recent work by the school’s founders Frances and Nick Moffatt and runs from the 31st of March to the 25th of April. However, everyone is invited to a private view on the evening of the 30th where you can have a drink and a natter about all things illustration.

Live illustration is now big business, as brands and companies have increasingly recognised the value that live illustration can add to their events,conferences and meetings.
In this talk Jules will cover how to break into live illustration and scribing, how to visually interpret complex content and ideas, the challenges and rewards of working live and under pressure, and how to effectively communicate with clients.

A two day masterclass in illustration for storytelling at the Art House in Sheffield

Join us for this exciting 2-day storytelling masterclass, in which you’ll explore the fundamentals of illustrating for a range of narrative commercial outcomes, from children’s picture books to graphic novels. You’ll learn about story structure, character design, composition, and everything else you could possibly need to create fantastic final illustrations. You will also take a look at illustration for storytelling from an entrepreneurial perspective, learning about routes into the publishing industry the roles of publishers, editors, and agents and how to get your work in front of them.

We’re kicking off the first Illustration Hub event in style, with the amazing Catherine Kay aka Katnipp! Catherine is the designer, illustrator and creative force behind Katnipp Studios, based right here in the North East in the seaside town of Redcar. Catherine has built a successful Kawaii-influenced brand based around her love of all things cute, selling a range of products including stationery, greetings cards, plushies, clothing and accessories online. Katnipp Studios also has an enviable social media presence, with 131k followers on Instagram and 166k subscribers on YouTube, where Catherine shares inspiration, tips and behind the scenes of being a small business owner.
Catherine will be giving us the inside track on her career so far, sharing advice on turning your illustrative talents into a product driven brand, and running a successful small business as a creative. We cannot wait!
